Maybe it's because we're away from our everyday environment. Maybe it's because my mind isn't bogged down with a "to do" list. Or maybe it's because I just caught my breath long enough to really look. But as I watched Liam sit quietly with his cousin Samantha and work so diligently drawing "outer space," I could see the focused, artistic, grown-up boy he's so quickly becoming. I felt that awesome swell of pride and the heart-wrenching longing for the little-boy days to never end. Of course, ten minutes later he and Sammy had drawn on their faces with marker. I guess the longing is a little premature.
